Intersputnik becomes a partner of the International Astronautical Congress in Milan

Intersputnik will take an active part in the 75th International Astronautical Congress (IAC 2024), which will be held in Milan (Italy) from 14 to 18 October 2024. IAC is the largest annual international forum of the space industry. The event is expected to gather more than 150 international exhibitors and about 4,000 attendees from 96 countries. This year, Intersputnik will again be a partner of the congress becoming Silver sponsor and presenting its own stand at IAC 2024 Exhibition floor. As part of the forum’s conference programme, Intersputnik’s Executive Director Elina Morozova will speak at the session Artificial Intelligence and Safe Space Communication taking place on 15 October 2024 in Green Hall 3 starting at 15.00.

One of the key missions of the Organization is to promote international cooperation in the field of sustainable development of outer space. Participation in the congress is a direct effort in this direction aimed to inform the global space community about the capabilities of Intersputnik as an international organization of space communications. In addition, as part of its participation in IAC 2024, Intersputnik continues to implement a programme to support young professionals from the Organization’s Member States. 

The theme of the 75th International Astronautical Congress is “Responsible Space for Sustainability”. Space technologies are vital for modern life and sustainable future, but outer space is a limited resource and humanity must preserve this treasure for future generations. The goal of IAC 2024 is to develop solutions to maintain space as a safe environment, open for exploration, peaceful use and international cooperation by present and future generations, without discrimination of any kind. 

The congress will discuss the most important topics for the space industry: issues of orbital safety and stability, preventing satellite collisions and debris contamination of the near-Earth space, using Earth surface monitoring systems in the climate change era, safe and sustainable use of the radio frequency spectrum for existing and future services, exploration of Moon and Mars, use of artificial intelligence and machine learning systems for analysing space data, and much more.

Intersputnik, as an international organization, supports all initiatives of the UN, ITU and other international organisations to strengthen and support sustainable outer space, to organise equal and transparent international cooperation in the use of space technologies to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals. 

Activities during IAC 2024 will be one of the stages of the implementation of Intersputnik’s programme to promote youth in the space industry in general and in the satellite communications sector in particular. At the Organization’s initiative, young professionals from Intersputnik Member States will take part in the sessions, panel discussions and round tables of the congress, which will allow them to learn the main trends in the industry development, gain experience working at a high-level international event and increase their value as experts.
